Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program

ABOUT   HISTORY    GME ADVISORY COUNCIL   GME GRANT PROGRAM

Nevada’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) Program invests in advanced medical training to help strengthen our physician workforce and ensure communities across the state have access to the care they need.

The Nevada Health Authority (NVHA) manages a competitive grant program to award GME grant funds to any Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited institution in Nevada, focusing on the most critically needed specialties as required by governing statute (see Governance on GME About page.

The NVHA also oversees the Advisory Council on GME, which meets regularly to review applications for competitive grants under the GME Grant Program and provide funding recommendations to NVHA. In addition, the Council studies residency training and postdoctoral fellowship opportunities in Nevada and advises NVHA on strategies for recruiting and retaining physicians to meet the state’s health care needs.
