Nevada Health Authority Seeks Input on Application for new Federal Rural Health Transformation Funds

Rural health care providers, hospitals, public health and county health officers are encouraged to comment

CARSON CITY, NV- The Nevada Health Authority (NVHA) seeks input on what projects the state should prioritize for its application to receive new federal funds made available under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).

“We are looking forward to finding opportunities to invest these new federal funds to ensure the sustainability of our rural hospitals and health care system,” said NV Health Authority Director Stacie Weeks, “while continuing toward our goal for Nevadans to have access to affordable, reliable health care.”

Anyone can give their input by answering the survey at bottom of the NVHA Rural Health Transformation Program webpage. Summarized survey results will be shared in a virtual community workshop planned for the end of the month.

Public Comments Due to NVHA September 22, 2025

As outlined by a memorandum from the White House, these funds are intended to transform state rural health care systems with an emphasis on the rural hospitals and other key access points for rural communities to health care services.

The OBBBA establishes a $50 billion fund, called the Rural Health Transformation Program, available by application to states. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) must review and approve applications and distribute funds no later than December 31, 2025.
