Public Meetings

Public meetings have special legal requirements to keep government transparent and accountable. These are meetings of public bodies, and they must be held in the open so that everyone knows what is being discussed or decided. In Nevada, a public body is any group that is supported by taxes, and advises or makes recommendations to a government agency. Each public body has a specific area of focus. Anyone can attend a public meeting and comment on a topic that the public body has on its agenda or is related to its area of focus. Comments can be made during the public comment period. Each meeting has at least two public comment periods.

Stakeholder Meetings

Stakeholder meetings are meetings hosted by Nevada Health Authority to give updates and gather feedback about our work, but no public body is present. While these meetings do not have special legal requirements, we do follow the same general rules to strengthen transparency and foster participation from people who attend.

Public Hearings

Public Hearings hosted by Nevada Health Authority are for adopting new regulations or updating existing regulations. Nevada Medicaid also uses Public Hearings to adopt changes to the State Plan for Medicaid. These meetings have special legal requirements.

Public Workshops

Public Workshops are hosted by Nevada Health Authority to gather feedback about proposed changes to regulations. Nevada Medicaid may use Public Workshops to gather feedback and input about proposed changes to the State Plan for Medicaid. These meetings have special legal requirements.
