Public Meetings

Public meetings have special legal requirements to keep government transparent and accountable. These are meetings of public bodies, and they must be held in the open so that everyone knows what is being discussed or decided. In Nevada, a public body is any group that is supported by taxes, and advises or makes recommendations to a government agency. Each public body has a specific area of focus. Anyone can attend a public meeting and comment on a topic that either: a) the public body has on its agenda; or b) is related to the public body's area of focus. Comments can be made during the public comment period. Each meeting has at least two public comment periods. Nevada Health Authority receives important feedback from public bodies to maximize contracting power and improve Nevada's public health.
